About Cold Front

A summer journey becomes terrifying when childhood friends Augustine and Winnie are unexpectedly swallowed by a chilling blizzard in the middle of July. Cold Front is a short, narrative-driven 2.5D horror game produced in RPG Maker by racheldrawsthis and STUDIO INVESTIGRAVE, that merges adventure and visual novel elements into a tight, emotionally packed experience.

Cold Front: A chilling summer horror experience

The pair of friends are caught in an unimaginable winter nightmare the day before Winnie leaves for university. Cold Front isn’t about heavy RPG mechanics, grinding, or battle. It’s all about mood, exploration, and character interactions. It’s a quick game, only 45 minutes to an hour, and it requires you to pay attention to everything in the environment and tiny swings in emotion.

Conversation is the main mechanic of survival. Every contact and language choice influences the story. In tense passages, the game forces you to pay great attention to the psychological horror that is unfolding, and to react to what it shows you. Turn up the sound for the full effect of the game’s disturbing, atmospheric design – it’s highly recommended.

Two Alternate Endings

Cold Front is highly replayable thanks to its short playtime, allowing you to easily view both story finishes in one afternoon. Your dialogue choices through the unfolding nightmare will decide the destiny of Augustine and Winnie:

  • Ending 1 – Together (Connection Route): This ending is there to keep things emotional. Do what you can to keep the tie between Augustine and Winnie alive. You want to survive this psychological trauma with your bond intact. Two friends under terrible circumstances, but sticking together, choosing to support and be honest with each other rather than looking out for number one.
  • Ending 2 — Tragic (Separation Route): This is the most heartbreaking ending that can happen if you push your partner away or focus on your own escape. The unimaginable storm in July has a lot of emotional weight, and this way of looking at it changes the event completely while giving important background to the story.

Cold Front is proof you don't need extended playtime to make a disturbing, memorable psychological thriller. Face the bitter cold and find out if true friendship can withstand the ultimate survival test.
