Horripilant is an idle, incremental, autobattler, and puzzle dungeon crawler with horror themes. It’s by Alexandre Declos. The advancement cycle is centered around resource management, equipment upgrades, dungeon exploration, and a Rebirth system. Initial advancement involves manual resource extraction. Then, materials are distributed to speed up manufacturing rates and to increase storage limits. Dungeon combat is fully automated, thus progression is purely a matter of statistical optimization and gear upgrades. Once you stop progressing, players begin a Rebirth to transform existing progress into permanent multipliers. Defeated bosses give powerful boons, but each has a mechanical drawback that must be strategically chosen.
In the Camp area and dungeon floors, there are cryptic environmental riddles. As you move through these parts, you will need to use certain things and type hidden inscriptions to open up additional passageways, NPC traders, and other dimensions.
The control scheme is minimal. Left Mouse Button - Primary Button for Collecting Resources, Navigating UI, Interacting with Puzzles, and Interrupting Boss Attacks. The keyboard is used just for entering the required inscriptions on the specified terminals. Alt+F4 is a technological workaround for preventing save overwrites pre-death in achievement runs. Character fighting is automatic within dungeon instances.
Strict resource routing is needed for early game optimization. At first, players should prioritize click power improvements and collect on-screen sparkles for maximum benefits. Need to get automated assistants quickly, and time storage upgrades to match production speeds to avoid losing material caps. Before you can face the first boss, you need to create a sword and a helmet at the very least.
