About Meccha Chameleon

Meccha Chameleon is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game that uses camouflage painting and hiding areas. Players play on Hider and Seeker teams.

How to play Meccha Chameleon

In Meccha Chameleon, a multiplayer hide-and-seek game, you need to paint your character to deceive your opponents. You start with a white body. You need to blend in with the colors of your surroundings so you are not identified.

All games have Hiders and Seekers.

  • Hiders have to find a good hiding spot, look about at the walls, the floor, and what is surrounding them, then apply paint to blend in. Hide your outline. Find a place that is appropriate for your hiding place.
  • As a Seeker, you look for special colours, suspicious forms, and minor things that don't fit the map in every corner. Can you find all the camouflaged players before the clock runs out?

So where does Meccha Chameleon come in?

Paint is the core mechanic for Meccha Chameleon. Your character starts white but can be colored to match the environment.

One colour is not sufficient. On your head, body, arms, and legs, you may require different shades to hide. Watch out for shadows and variations in light; a color that is great from one angle may be quite obvious when approached from another.

Pose to break up your character's silhouette after painting. Truly realistic camouflage requires position, colour, and stance.

Controls

  • Move: Control+W, A, S, D.
  • Look: Mouse.
  • Paint menu: F.
  • Use left mouse button to paint.
  • Copy colour: Middle mouse button.
  • Adjust brush size: Mouse wheel.

Tips and tricks

  • Explore before painting. Choose your hiding area first to match your character's colours to your location.
  • Just copy the main colours. High contrasts stand out. Start with background shades.
  • Split your character's silhouette. Use diverse colours and a good stance to hide your physical shape.
  • Review from many views. Seekers can approach from several angles. Perfect camouflage from the front may be obvious from the side.
  • Try not to cut corners. Veteran players check the most obvious hiding areas first. In plain sight with appropriate camouflage can work better.
  • Watch the lights. Shadows and well-lit locations change color perception and help you hide particular body parts.

Practical Experience

Study your hiding spot before painting. Determine the background's major colors and which portions of your character the Seekers will see.

Match the surface's prevailing color first. Add more shades to simulate scenic lines, shadows, and color shifts. Before finishing your camouflage, rotate the camera and check it from different perspectives.

Painting to produce the prettiest character is not the goal. You want to deceive other gamers.
