About Rotten Machines

Rotten Machines is a throwback PSX indie horror driving game where you find yourself in an abandoned future in 2127 and must escape! Not to mention avoiding mechanical hazards, fixing a time machine, and finding some gasoline.

Rotten Machines: A Retro Horror Driving Game in a Deserted Future

Rotten Machines is a retro indie horror driving game in the strange 2127 world created by Ken Forest for the Ludum Dare 60 game jam. You wake up in the desolate future, roads vacant and a world behind you. But getting home is no easy task. You have a rusty old time machine behind rocks in a cave, but you're going to need to get it repaired and functioning first, so you can survive!

Mechanics and Controls: Keep Your Car Running

Now that you're on dark roads, don't dig for information. Consider learning some basic survival skills to battle your unreliable car:

  • Controls: Practice your controls and discover how to better control the car.
  • Fuel: Stop often for gas to ensure you don't get stranded in the dark.
  • Avoid Road Fever: Keep your attention on the road, so you can see hazards earlier.
  • Know What to Expect: Check your homework before entering new terrain and avoid taking unnecessary risks.

Standout Features and Mechanical Threats

Rotten Machines is always unforgettable, with magnificent low-poly PSX graphics and warped images complemented by a disturbing mood. It generates amazing survival horror tension that will keep you hooked even when nothing is occurring and without cheap jump scares!

But roadways aren't vacant. Mechanical beasts and hostile automobiles lurk attractively in the shadows, turning every drive into a tense affair. Keep an eye on your surroundings, not just the road in front of you, and avoid these mechanical risks to best ensure your survival.

Will You Survive in the Future?

Will you start up the old machine and drive home, or is it a one-way trip to the dead future? If you enjoy PSX horror games, moody chugging games, or old-school survival horror, try Rotten Machines!
